Orlando Tee

Orlando Tee

Next up is the Orlando Tee by Seamwork. Until recently I'd been making regular t-shirts and I realised it was habit rather than choice. With being a science teacher for the past 17 years, I've always worn smart trousers and a plain tee shirt as it was smart enough but practical for the many stains you get from working with chemicals and teenagers. I couldn't wear the scoop tees that suit my curves better as it meant flashing too much cleavage. Well I'm tutoring online only now so I just throw a sweater over the tee and I'm sorted! Hence the search for a decent scoop tee.

Like many other people, I've had a Seamwork membership for years and now have approximately 1 million patterns unused in their collections. I spotted Orlando but have the annoying issue or being mainly in the "Misses" range by into the "Curvy" range at the hips. My measurements (100cm bust, 85cm waist and 120cm hips) put me at 10-12 bust, 12-14 waist and 16-18 hips. I wasn't going to go through the faff of having both printed so I printed the Misses and graded out a size at the hips. I cut a 12 bust, graded to a 14 waist and out to half way between 16 and 18 hips, adding 5cm to the length as its drafted for 172cm and I'm 178cm (plus the 34FF boobs require a bit more length when not doing an FBA). The first attempt was ok but I needed a bit more shoulder width and the negative ease meant it was clinging a little more than I'd like at the hips.

So, I went up half a size at the bust and hips and tried again. The difference is subtle but much more comfortable as it doesn't pull as much across the shoulders.

Back view shows my hourglass nicely! It's still early spring so there's snow forecast next week (after suncream was required yesterday!) and that view will be hidden under a cardigan. Next post is the cardigan! Also, I cannot wait for the hairdressers to reopen!
