Yellow Cotton Reel Silver Necklace by Joanna Wakefield
This tactile necklace is a progression of Joanna’s pendant design and is beautifully hallmarked at the Sheffield Assay Office. As well as a love for textiles and haberdashery Joanna has a penchant for vintage and found objects and one of her collections is old cotton reels. The hallmarking placement on the cotton reel jewellery is inspired by them and marked in a unique curve to reflect the vintage labelling.
The cotton reel itself is 12mm in diameter and approx 10mm to 12mm high. The height may vary slightly as this is a handmade object! The thread on this reel is pale yellow.
The total necklace length of this piece is 18″.
Packaged in a lovely Joanna Wakefield branded gift box.
Joanna Wakefield is a jewellery designer-maker working from her studio in York.
A huge part of her jewellery designs are influenced by textiles and haberdashery which stemmed from a fascination that grew from admiring her Grandma’s talents along with fond memories of sorting through her button stash.
Amongst her collection, you will find handmade silver cotton reels (hallmarked in such a way as to reflect the labelling found on vintage bobbins) and thimbles cast from vintage finds.
