Strathcona Henley pattern by Thread Theory

This modern, slim-fitting t-shirt pattern is a wardrobe staple that can be sewn up with a crew-neck or a 1” henley placket and long or short sleeves. It would suit both fine or medium weight knits to create either a shirt or light sweater. The sleeves and hem can be turned and hemmed or finished with bands (a great option for beginner sewers!).

This pattern, as part of the Parkland Casual Collection, is a modern slim-fitting design with athletic sizing. It is a classic garment that lends itself to creating the perfect casual, hand-made wardrobe for an active lifestyle.

Sizing:

The pattern is designed for a men’s sizes XS-XL (34-44″ chest)

Suggested fabrics:

Light to medium weight knit fabrics or light stretch wovens.

  • Easier to sew: stable knits such as wool jersey, french terry and thicker t-shirt jersey.
  • More challenging to sew: ribbed knits, thin t-shirt knits (such as our AGF jerseys).

Fabric Requirements:

115cm wide:

  • Version 1 – 1.8m
  • Version 2 -1.5m

150cm wide:

  • Version 1 -1.5m
  • Version 2 – 1.3m

Notions (version 1 only):

  • Fusible interfacing scraps (2.5cm x 12.7cm)
  • Three 15-18mm buttons or snaps

Difficulty:

This pattern is suitable for beginners to intermediates depending on the options chosen. Instructions for sewing with knits are thorough and include finishing suggestions, step-by-step illustrations and both beginner or intermediate sewing options.

Strathcona Henley also has a French translation available.
